Your Golf Swing Doesn't Have to Be Perfect.
It Has to Work for You.

I'm Rob Steffes, a PGA Professional with 29 years of teaching experience. I believe great instruction starts with understanding the golfer, not forcing everyone into the same swing.

Your swing, your body, your goals, and how you learn are unique to you. My job is to understand those differences and help you become a better golfer.

Let's talk about your game.

Text or call me at (843) 240-5673 to discuss an assessment and find a time that works.

Golf Has Been Part of My Life Since I Was Six.

I grew up playing golf with my parents on Sunday afternoons. Years later, while playing in Minnesota, I helped another golfer make a few adjustments. Seeing her hit better shots helped me realize how rewarding teaching could be.

That experience eventually led me to the Golf Academy of America in Arizona and a career in the golf industry.

I've worked as an Assistant Golf Professional, Head Golf Professional, Director of Golf, and Director of Instruction at Topgolf.

In 2018, I decided to focus on teaching full-time, returning to the reason I entered the golf business in the first place.

I've worked with beginners, juniors, seniors, competitive players, and experienced golfers trying to overcome years of frustration.

The most rewarding part of teaching is seeing someone realize they can improve.
My Teaching Philosophy

Swing. Body. Mind.

I believe improvement comes from understanding how these three things work together for each individual golfer.

Swing

We work toward a functional, repeatable swing. Sometimes that means changing a fundamental movement. Other times, it means improving the swing you already have.

Body

Age, mobility, strength, comfort, and physical limitations all matter. I don't believe in forcing golfers into positions their bodies can't comfortably achieve.

Mind

Confidence, expectations, course management, and the way you learn influence your game. I adapt my communication to what makes sense to you.

Why My Approach Is Different

I Want You to Understand Your Game.

My goal isn't for you to make every swing perfect. It's for you to understand what you need to do to correct your mistakes.

During lessons, I'll ask questions. What happened? Was that the movement we've been working on? What would you do differently?

I want you to recognize your tendencies because you won't always have me standing beside you on the golf course.

Sometimes I'll explain the same concept several different ways until one explanation clicks. And if something isn't working, I'll tell you. We'll reevaluate and find another approach.

I teach the golfer in front of me, not a predetermined sequence of swing positions.
Better Golf

Improvement Isn't Always About Rebuilding Your Swing.

If you're trying to break 90, the answer might be better chipping, putting, distance control, club selection, or course management.

I look for the changes that can make a meaningful difference to your scores and enjoyment of the game.

Technology With Purpose

Trackman and Video Are Tools, Not the Teacher.

I use Trackman and swing video to better understand ball flight, consistency, and movement.

But I won't overwhelm you with numbers. The technology helps us make informed decisions; it doesn't dictate how I teach.

Getting Started

Let's Start With an Assessment.

Before recommending an ongoing coaching plan, I want to understand your game, your goals, and what you're trying to accomplish.

Personal Golf Assessment

$49
Approximately 1 Hour

We'll discuss your golf background and goals, observe your swing, use video or Trackman information where helpful, and identify opportunities for improvement.

A good starting point for most golfers who want personalized guidance and a direction for improvement.

Trackman Performance & Golf Assessment

$79
Approximately 2 Hours

Begin with Trackman performance testing across different clubs to establish a baseline. Then we'll review the results, observe your swing, and discuss areas that deserve attention.

For golfers who want a more detailed performance baseline alongside a personal assessment.

Both options are assessments designed to establish a direction for improvement, rather than traditional discounted lessons. Contact me and we'll discuss which is right for you.

A Personal Invitation

Let's Talk About Your Golf Game.

If you're looking for someone who will take the time to understand you, be honest with you, and help you find an approach that works for your game, I'd welcome the opportunity to work with you.

Text or call me. Tell me you're interested in getting started, and we'll discuss which assessment fits your needs and find a time that works.
